How My Interview Discussion With Popular Master Of Ceremony (MC) In Nigeria “MC AYULAH”: Will Make You Focus On Your Passion And Talent

He is talented and will make your ceremony worth every penny, and time. He is intelligent, funny, and knows how to move the crowd. He is one of Nigeria’s sort after and demanding MC in town with a lot trending positive reviews. He is the CEO of Speaking Services Nigeria.

Guys help me welcome MC Ayulah!

1. Tell us a bit about your background, school, and Where are you from?

My name is Ayobami Yusuf popularly known as MC Ayulah. I am a native of Omu Aran in, Kwara State. My primary education was at Abdul Aziz Attah Memorial Nursery & Primary School Ilorin while I had my secondary education at Federal Government College, Ilorin. I proceeded to The Federal Polytecnic Bida, Niger state where I bagged a diploma certificate in Civil Engineering before proceeding to University of Ilorin where I bagged my first degree and Masters degree in Geology.

2. How was life growing up?

Growing up was absolute fun. A lot has changed now. We didn’t have 24hours television. Children played together on the streets. We had real friends both in school and at home. We listened to folklore stories. All I remember about growing up is all beautiful

3. At what age in your life did you decide you wanted to be an MC?

Ohh… I am barely 5 years in the industry. It was a decision I took a few years back while I was working as an engineer with one of the leading telecoms servicing company in Lagos. After five years with the company, I decided I wanted more. I needed to chase my passion and be more. So I started anchoring events while still on the job before I finally left.

Me: wow! That’s a big risk and decision you took… so!

4. How do you cope working virtually every weekend, managing your time and schedule?

Time management is one of the essential qualities every MC must possess. Many times I work on weekends (weddings and birthdays) but sometimes times I get to work on weekdays too (Corporate events). On my free days.

5. Is being an MC a burden or a blessing or a bit of both?

Being a professional MC is absolutely a blessing for all who recognizes it. This is because we get to meet different people almost every week and this alone provides us an opportunity to network with a lot of people including those who matter in the society.
So far I have not been able to identify a major disadvantage of being an emcee and my mentors have not told me any too.

6. What challenges have you had to tackle as a professional at your job?

First is to make people understand that a Pro MC is not the same as a comedian. Many out there confuse an emcee with a standup comedian. You necessarily don’t have to be able to tell jokes before you can successfully be a pro MC. Although you must have a good sense of humor to succeed.

Me: which similarly looks like comedy. What I have noticed is that there is comedy in everything that we do. But now I kinda get your point and am sure my readers are aware of the differences now.

7. In your opinion, what is the most difficult part in your line of business?

Having to read voraciously to be current is one. The other is the ability to stay abreast of situations and be on top of everything that presents itself either at events or behind the scenes

8. What’s the weirdest thing a client/follower has ever told you?

I don’t think that weird moment has come…

9. Your confidence is so bold, especially when you handle the mic, do you sometimes have the fear of stage
fright?

Stage fright? No I conquered that long time ago. I have always been a stage boy from my primary school days when we danced on stage and acted plays at the schools functions. In my secondary school days, I was in drama and cultural troupe. So when I decided to grace the stage as an emcee, it wasn’t an issue.

10. Which other professional are you looking forward to working with or have something coming out with?

I would love to work with a lot of people – Ik Osakioduwa, Gbemileke Oyisan, Teju Babyface and many more.

Me: these guys are great MC legends. You got good taste!

11. If you had a chance to work with one person in the world, who would it be?

As a professional MC, you can be paired to work with anyone and whoever it is, you must display absolute professionalism but nothing beats when you share the stage with your mentors and role models.

12. What are your top 3 points in your note or pad that you always reflect on?

Never let them see you sweat
Irrespective of where you find yourself, Give your best always

13. Aside the unemployment nature of the country, what drove you to become an MC?

Well for me, the choice to be an MC was more of wanting to pursue my passion than being unemployed. I resigned my job as a telecoms specialist after 5years to focus on being a full time professional MC.

14. What are some things that you would like to accomplish but not in view yet in your profession?

There a quite a lot but top on the list is to anchor destination weddings

15. What advice would you give to unmotivated and non- inspired people around the world. Please explain???

God has equipped everyone with a special ability and talent embedded inside us. We need to further dig deep to discover these gifts and use them solve the problems around us.

16. What’s next for MC Ayulah?
For now, the focus is to get better at the craft and probably explore new terrain and opportunities.

Thank you so much for your time. We wish you the best of all your heart desires and endeavours.
