God’s Approval vs. Man’s Approval – Which Matters More?

Most of us are quick to answer this question with “God’s approval”. But is that really the truth? Man’s approval can challenge our hearts.

God has a great call on each of us to achieve a unique purpose during our lifetime. However, I believe that many of us have no idea what this call or purpose looks like for us. Today I can help give some clarity in this. Are you ready? The first step in understanding your unique purpose in life is to set your focus entirely on gaining God’s approval. It is that simple!

If you decide in your heart that your focus is to be pleasing toward God and you care about His approval above all else, He will begin to lead you into the purpose that He has for your life!

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. – Jeremiah 29:13

What I’m sharing in this post sounds simple so far, doesn’t it?

Seek God’s approval and follow Him above man’s approval. Then, in turn, He will show you your purpose! Truthfully this isn’t extremely difficult to understand or to apply. However, where the challenge comes into play is when people get brought into the mix. Family, significant others, friends, managers, pastors, and others can unintentionally get in the way of us seeking God’s approval first.

Due to the influence these individuals have in our lives, we often begin seeking their approval above God’s approval. The moment you shift your priority from seeking God’s approval to focusing on man’s approval, you will step further from God’s purpose for your life.

Yet at the same time, many even among the leaders believed in Jesus. But because of the Pharisees, they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear, they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved human praise more than praise from God. – John 12:42-43

The desire to be loved and noticed is within each of us. When we are seeking God’s approval above all else, people see where we are going and often want to help, or they want to acknowledge how well you are doing, or even push us in the ‘right direction.’ Often this leads us to want more of man’s approval. We enjoy the attention. I completely understand this, and it is a battle that we all face. (Please note: The solution is not to avoid people altogether; people are part of every believer’s calling. Mentors and an inner circle of friends are from God to lead us to our purpose.)

How can I seek God’s approval above man’s approval?

When we get around the people that God has placed in our lives, we need to remember that, above all, we are first seeking God’s approval for our lives. If we have the right people close to us in our lives, they will encourage us to seek God’s approval above theirs.

But just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak. Not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts. – 1 Thessalonians 2:4

Let’s each decide to seek God’s approval above the approval of men so we can continue to walk in His calling and fulfill the purpose that He has for our lives. You may be rejected by some, but if you are accepted by One, you have all you need. Stay faithful and seek God’s approval above man’s approval. As a result, you’ll step more into the purpose that God has on your life.

NB: I normally say this to my friends and followers, you don’t need a large crowd to be aware you doing well. You just need one person and you good to go. This year is a year of pleasant surprises, let’s keep seeking the approval of God over the approval of men in our lives. When God steps in your life, He changes everything and it’s permanent, but when men steps in, disappointment is sure to happen.

Right now I want to give you the opportunity to come to our Lord Jesus Christ if you haven’t given your life to Him. He is the only one that will step in to your life and change it for good. Please say this after me:

Lord Jesus, I thank you for your love and mercy over my life. I believe you came to this world to die for my sins and gave me the gift of salvation. Today I accept you as my Lord and Saviour in Jesus name Amen.

If you just said this words, I welcome you to the family of Christ. Expect uncontainable blessings and favour in your life in Jesus name.

Happy Sunday!

True Story: Stepping Out Of Comfort Zone

Submitted by Ainne Olar

My name is Ainne Olar,15 years old and I’m in 10th grade of High School. I was born in Philippines and I spent most of my childhood there, then we moved in Canada.

It was my first time moving to another country, so I was a very shy student for a little while back in my school in New Brunswick. New Brunswick is one of the provinces in Canada where we first move. It wasn’t as easy as I thought it was going to be, but I’ve made it until where I am now.

I had to speak and learn new languages to be able to communicate to other people. For the little while which I spent in school, I am only by myself. I usually don’t talk to people because I was not comfortable to speak the language, since it isn’t the language that we speak in my country. In class, I don’t participate I always choose to shut my mouth because I also am not that very confidence to speak in front of everyone. At lunch, it’s just me and my sister or sometimes it’s just going to be me and I used to be alright with that. I didn’t join any clubs or after school activities for a little while even though my teachers and my mom are always encouraging me.

One day, this event happened in my school where everyone had to play in the gym. I didn’t join at first, I just watch everyone play, having so much fun and just enjoying the moment that the school give us. The thing is I am actually a very athletic and energetic person, so while watching everyone play I was very jealous and tempted to join. I said to myself ,”I can’t just sit here in the side of the gym while watching everyone”, ” I need to get up and just be brave to have fun”, “What am I even scared of?”. All these thoughts came to my head and pushed me to stepped out of my comfort zone. I stood up and just plainly joined and after that everything changed. I made a lot of friends. I was a participant in every discussion in class because I’ve gain more confidence. I joined sports club that happened every after school with my friends. I become more excited to come to school everyday to see my friends.

Don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone. It’s not that you have to step out of your comfort zone because most of us feel very comfortable with it, It’s just you will be able to experience things that you have no idea you will. You will learn something about yourself that you didn’t even know. You will build more relationships with others. You will become more excited about life.

Lastly it will add up more to your confidence and that is the great thing that actually ever happened to me, it’s a great feeling being out of my comfort zone.

Two Major Obstacles To Success

We are familiar with the two agents to success. Which are fear and doubt. It is first of all the fear of failure, poverty, loss, embarrassment, or rejection that holds most people back from trying in the first place.

I remember back in 2013, I was blogging for an entertainment blogger. That period was my first experience in the blogging path. I was learning at the same time trying to venture into mine. After a year blogging for someone else, I decided to start my own and create my own path. First of all I was really motivated in starting my own entertainment blog which I did. But at some point I was scared and decided to fall back a bit. Fear of the unknown came knocking at my door, dropping some doubt about me starting my blog. How I was going to make it famous, how will I get my readers from, there are too many entertainment blogs out there, how are you sure you gonna make it. Different thoughts came to my mind. At some point I decided to go back and work for the person I was blogging for. In all I overcame and my path to blogging from then till now started.

You know because of fear of failure and rejection, an average number of times that people try to achieve a new goal is less than one. As soon as they think of the goal, these fears overwhelm them and, like a bucket of water on a small fire, extinguish their desire completely.

The second mental obstacle, closely aligned to fear, is self doubt. We doubt our own abilities. We compare ourselves unfavourably to others and think that others are some how better, smarter, and more competent than we are. We think, “I’m not good enough.” We feel inadequate and inferior to the challenges of achieving the great goals that we so much want to accomplish.

Fortunately, if there is anything good about doubt and fear it’s that they are both learned emotions. Have you ever seen a nagative baby before? Children come into the world with no doubts or fears at all. And whatever has been learned can be unlearned through practice and repetition.

The primary antidotes to doubt and fear are courage and confidence. The higher your level of courage and confidence, the lower will be your levels of fear and doubt and the less effect these negative emotions will have on your perfomance and behaviour.

I leave you with this:

Isaiah 43:1 “Don’t fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine.” God actually commands us not to fear, or worry. The phrase “fear not” is used at least 80 times in the Bible, most likely because He knows the enemy uses fear to decrease our hope and limit our victories.
